Baker's Farm

---

Still called "Baker's Farm" in local parlance, this large plantation was once the fulfilled dream of the long-lasting Baker family. Mostly tended by family and hired workers, this changed about thirty-five years ago when the farm's last true Baker, Jan Karl, began using the farm's profits to bring in bonded, indentured labor from Heath and New Dauntless.

After Jan's mysterious murder, the farm was purchased by Cinnabar Calomel, who dissolved the workers' contracts.

Baker's Farm supplies Myrken Wood with a great quantity of wheat, as well as vegetable food crops and beans. In addition, there are fields and faculty devoted to raising a herd of cattle for meat and milk as well as a small apple orchard. The forty-some-odd indentured laborers were responsible for much of this expansion, because the Bakers could skip paying wages and instead invest in new buildings and extra equipment. The farm-house, where Cinnabar Calomel now lives, is one of the best-tended farm buildings in Myrkentown.

The farm now operates as somewhat of a cooperative. Calomel recieves a portion of the proceeds, but much of the farm's revenue is finding its way into the pockets of the workers to fund further improvements and a good, solid growing season.

Among the families resident at Baker's Farm are the Kaczmareks, the Massrys, the Kettebecks, and the Blackhouses.
