Kals Olwak, First son of the Olwak Trader family from the Rain Wilds, and the current head of the family with his father's retirement from the spotlight. Like all from his land his features remain entirely covered when in the presence of those outside their culture. Every trader, when seen, wears cowls and veils to cover their heads, and various attire down their bodies including gloves to mask the rest of their skin. He's explained it is a mix of tradition and to simply alleviate themselves from the reactions of others upon seeing how they look.

What makes these outfits interesting are the enormously varied styles, colors, designs, and patterns that traders use to express themselves with. Kals often favors bright, flashy attire to show off the merchandise he sells and a bit of his personality. Despite the layers worn, the material is fine enough that weather and temperature are rarely issues.

The trader is tall, standing at six and a half feet tall, and built in many regards more like a tree than a person. Barrel-chested and thick of limb he looks like he works and belongs on a farm hauling produce more than living as a merchant. He's generally a pleasant man unless someone rubs him the wrong way or offends his morals. He is often loud, boisterous, forward, and blunt.

Kals came to Myrken Wood to open up trading routes for his family into the town and the neighboring regions. The territory was untapped by the Rain Wilders, and their unique and fanciful goods easily drew attention from the wealthy of the land who were presented with the finds.

He has two siblings; His younger brother Gonri that remained with the family in the Wilds, and his youngest sibling, Rhaena, that traveled with him on this venture. Due to her dalliance with [[Glenn Burnie] she has been officially removed from the family by Kals. He has a lacking opinion of the man that he tends to wax on about if he is brought up. The trader feels he needs to protect the rest of his family if he can't do the same for his sister.

Kals has made more business contacts since his arrival in Myrken, but he has several friends mostly from the more outcast group of Myrken that the locals often describe as monsters. He feels he fits in far better with them. That said, his business dealings with local merchants and traders in more mundane products and the good will of his sister (despite tensions) keep him amiable received.

The trader has found himself completely taken by the wild woman Kacela, and has been courting her seriously since her return from a long absence from Myrken. They seem opposites in nature and background, but that hasn't slowed the trader's emotions and he can often be found in her presence when he manages to track her down.
