Name- The Potter (real name unknown)

Age- assumed to be between 19-25 years old, but unknown

Sex- Male

Height- 6 E”

Build- he is strong due to his profession, but it is a subtle strength, not a brute strength, looks average, but is slightly stronger

Financial situation- he is not poor, his pottery brings him much money, but he has nothing to spend it on, though he does give a lot of his money away to the needy that he feels deserve it.

Clothes- he wears three sets of clothes-

his potter’s clothes- old throwaways covered in clay

his street clothes- Black pants with silver linings, a black shirt with a silver dragon on it, black knee boots with silver linings, black gloves

His Travel Clothes- leather vest and jekin, leather pants and boots, all undyed.

Inventory- His clothes, a potter’s wheel, potters tools, his fathers swords (2 of them), a hunting bow, 4 arrows, pair of vambraces, a few knives, quiver, boot/wrist scabbards for knives, 2 side scabbards for his sword.

Description-

Swords- Two short swords, both exactly 36 inches in length form the pommel to the tip, these have ben passed down form generation to generation, both are in good condition, if in lack of use.

Bow- a classic recurve short hunting bow, a draw weight of 75 lbs (25 less than a longbow) in extremely good condition.

Knives- small throwing knives, 3 inch blade (enough to reach the heart of most animals) kept in pristine condition though worn form constant use

Vambraces- if you want to call them that, leather rectangles tied around the wrist, simple yet effective, these are very worn, should replace them soon form the skin of the next killed animal

Potter’s wheel- this small portable potters wheel works like all in the day, one small slab of metal round attacked to an axle attacked to a much larger slab of metal, needs to be set up with some wood that is nto carried around (theres wood everywhere after all), the wheel is fairly used, but for such an item it is not such a bad thing as it wont rub as much.

Potter’s tools- bought for him by his master these are an average set of potters tools, they are in average condition Sword scabbards- black with steel tips

Training- he has been trained as a potter for most fo his life in apprenticeship, he has learned a little backsmithign form his father, no more than enough to make nails, or kinda fix broken items, he has good hunting skills, but nothing amazing. With swords he is trained in the most basic of maneuveurs and street fighting but he can not stand up to any remotely experienced fighter, he wears it mostly for intimidation. He is good at throwing knives, something he learned when he was little, making his mother mad at him when he skewered one fo the chickens. His main skill lies in his pottery, he is an expert potter, he sells his ware’s for a higher price than most potters, but for good reason.

Abilities

Like many in this world of his The Potter has a few special abilities.

Special pot- sometimes he will make a pot that is meant only for one person, this pot will protect the person it is meant for, however if the pot is broken the the said protection will disappear and transform into something harmful to the said person. Each protection differs on the potters relationship with person, some are stronger, some weaker. It is said that he will create exactly 99 of these pots for others, and one extra which will be his demise, however that is only street rumors and shouldn’t be mentioned in this manuscript. Insofar we assume he has thrown from 70-90 of the said pots, but it is unsure as to how much value we can put in this estimate. When he makes such a pot he is forced (even against his will sometimes)to give it to the said person, it is always someone near him, it is a random occurrence, though it seems people he knows better are more likely to get them. These pots also cannot be sold, by the same mysterious magic that forces him to give them to the actual person, the said person cannot get rid of it. Broken pot- each time a special pot is broken, it will not only turn against the person it was meant for but it will take a piece of his soul away, weakening him permanently.

Earth magic- because of his affinity with clay he has gained a small, untrained understanding of how to manipulate earth to his will, so far it is an almost useless ability, he can make pots without touching them, or raise a tiny bump of earth to trip someone but the lack of training and will to use this power has kept it useless, especially since it tires him out immensely. This ability cannot get him directly killed but he can go into a coma and form there die because of it, this has happened once (the coma, not the dying), it took 2 months to get him back awake. It would take a master to hone his skill, and even then the weakening side effect would probably make it little worth the trouble

Personality

The potter is a man of few words, he wont say any more than is necessary. He is shy and very lonesome almost, he never talks to anyone unless they approach him first, or unless he is in need of something (supplies, ordering a drink etc. etc.). he helps out whoever truly needs help if he can, and sometimes even if it is of detriment to him. He is a very kind man and gets very close to the few friends he has made, it is said that he can be very talkative once he truly gets to know someone, but again this is a rumor. On the outside he may seem happy but there is much sadness inside of him. He hates harming people, and will never kill unless absolutely necessary (so far that hasn’t happened it seems, but then he is so bad with a sword it does nto seem likely to happen any time soon). He also doesn’t like to stick his nose where it doesn’t belong, but will if needs be.

History

The Potter has an interesting history

Paternal- his entire family on his father’s side has been blacksmiths as far as we can tell. They always seem to have been living in good standing, not rich, nor poor, average. The potter seems to have huge affection for his paternal side, he often smiled (a rare sight let me tell you) at his father, and visited his grandfather very often, but he held no love for their craft which wasn’t controlled enough for him.

Maternal- His mother comes from a family of serf’s, originally a humble, nice quiet woman, the money her husband had (in proportion to what she had it was a lot) made her greedy and become a real bitch. She became stingy with the smallest coin, getting mad at the slightest thing, the fact that the Potter had to be born C-sectioned didn’t help her attitude towards him, she hated him for stealing (as she put it, he wasn’t really doing anymore than eating food at her table, and wearing clothes her husband had to buy for him) her beloved money, and treated him like a slave. She wanted money so bad she started sleeping with notables in the town to get extra shillings. Her husband too innocent to think of such a thing never realized it. She was glad to get rid of him when he took the apprenticeship, even though it cost her some money.

The Potter himself- he was brought up mostly by his father, as his mother hated him. He was taught all the proper etiquettes, though he seldom uses them. At a young age his father tried to get him interested in metal working, but the potter would just pick up earth from the smithy floor and wet it with the cooling water to make small things. He made his first true pot at the age of 8 (a pinchpot if memory recalls), this pot was meant for his father. At this age he was practicing throwing his mother’s knives at a tree in the forest outside their house with his friend, that day he missed and hit a chicken, his mother found out what happened and punished him harshly with a horse whip. Because his mother was so against his knife throwing he decided to keep doing it in secret and get as good as he could. At the age of 12 his father apprenticed him to a master potter in a village that was 2 hours walk away. From then till 18 he learned his skill, he even learned how to sculpt, though he didn’t like it much. In his time as apprentice is when he first discovered the power some of his pots had and his small control over the earth. When he reached the end of his apprenticeship he went home to his house to see his father to tell him of his achievements, Only to learn that he had been killed in mysterious conditions. His mother was nowhere to be found, and he didn’t bother looking. After having talked to the townsfolk he learned that his mother had, the day his father had died, purposefully broken the pot he had given him when he was 8 just to make his father mad, that day the father had yelled and kicked the mother out. That night they had heard loud and frightening sounds form the house, when they went to see what had happened in the morning they had found the father skewered on 100’s of his metalwork pieces, it didn’t look as if any man could of possibly done such a gorible deed. When the Potter found this out, he realized with sudden insight the curse that his gift could bring, the coincidences were too much. He went to see the village seer to confirm his doubts; the seer told scryed him and informed him of all he could find about powers similar to his. The Potter then returned to his home, went to his father’s hidden cache (his father knew of the mothers greed) and withdrew the families swords as well as some money, went to the smithy and took some knives and other equipment. He then forever left his town, he made a living going form town to town and making and selling work in each, always wandering, always hoping to find a place he could settle, never having found one yet. He made a few friends on his travels, most have died since as they didn’t heed the warning about his pots the rest he has left behind because of the unexplainable drive he has to keep moving. He has never fallen in love to this day and still awaits the one of his dreams, but yet fears it, as he knows that one will be so close that he will again be forced to make another of the dreaded pots which may end up killing her too. His travels have recently taken him to the region known as myrken wood, in this place he has gotten more practice with his weapons that he had ever wanted, and too little throwing for his taste. But he was driven to this place for some reason he could not understand. And if we have marked his travels well it seems his road has been leading this way forever, spiraling slowly closer and closer.

Footnote

As you can see we have not mentioned any names in this manuscript, the main reason being that his father’s line comes from a family who keep’s their name secret, The potter has done the same. We do not know of a reason for this odd occurrence, they have always been called “the blacksmith E he is the exception, now called “the potter E another odd note it that in our recorded histories his line has always given birth to a single child, always male on his father’s side, and each have been gifted, some more than others. On his mother’s side there is nothing surprising, she had a name, but it isn’t worth mentioning here. Her family does not have any hints of the gift or anything else worth mentioning.

Abbot’s footnote- This document is not to be seen as an unbiased view on  Ehe potter E This document contains many false or fantastic views form the author’s immoral and unhumble mind.
