Description
Doctor James Byron of Westenford was a thin, blond man known for his devotion to the medical profession, with one notable addition: he was also known for his devotion to the wealthiest in the town, never bothering to cross the Aeryn River that divides the city both physically and economically. Known simply as "Doctor Jack," he was a busy man steadily working, called upon for all manner of ailments and for childbirths.
Background
Origins
Born and raised among the wealthiest families in Westenford, Doctor Jack quickly grew to fit into the society there and never left the city of his birth except on the briefest matters relating to his job. Trained at the university in town, he began working as a doctor exclusively to the rich in 177 AR.
Doctor Byron had two particularly notable moments during his career, both involving Aloisius Treadwell. For the first, in 180, the doctor delivered the Chief Magistrate's firstborn daughter, Babette, in the fall. For the second, in 187, he managed to keep the Chief Magistrate alive following a knife attack at 5:15 AM of November 2. Treadwell had double-crossed a thief named Reynard Volpone he had hired secretly, which led to Volpone's cutting of his employer's throat, which in turn led to the rogue's brief arrest (and subsequent escape). This assault gave the victim a new scar that Treadwell from then on has kept covered with his great beard. Otherwise, the doctor died on November 2, 190 AR to a similar knife injury. While it was never proven to be the work of the same thief, rumors among the Westenford Ruling Council certainly speculated as much given the death being in the same manner and on the same date as the original attack.
The Broken Dagger
As Doctor Jack rarely left Westenford at any time, and as he certainly never ventured to Myrken Wood, he never came close to learning about the Broken Dagger.
The Present
As mentioned above, Doctor Byron is deceased as of November 2, 190.
Plots
Apart from the previous mentions above, the doctor has not been involved in any other in-game plots.
