Bea Kanaya was born Beatriz Ramón many years ago, in the far western reaches of Amasynia. When moving to Myrken Wood, she adopted the more conventional Beatrice for her name. She was a well-respected member of Myrkentown's burgeoning middle class. Her ginger biscuits were a matter of legend amongst its children.

Bea was three-times married; her surname changing with each husband. Her first husband was Prewett Prestcote; they were married when Bea was 16 years old. Her second was Alessandre Godefroy. Her third was Drue Kanaya. Her first two husbands had died by the time that she was thirty years old. Drue died at the hands of The Baie; one of many killed by the beast as it tore through an angry mob on its way towards Captain Alexander Kanashia. That was enough death and loss for Bea Kanaya. She kept the dead man's name for her own and cursed the Captain's with each day's dawn.

Bea Kanaya was a pious adherent to the One Faith, although she didn't much care for St. Iona's chapel after Kinny Fletcherson committed suicide from its roof.

Bea owned and operated Bea's Baked Bites, a small bakery. She was the daughter of a baker and took on the trade even though she had a love/hate relationship with it; by the age of fourteen she'd acquired a hatred for the stink of yeast and enough coin to make the journey to Myrken Wood.

Bea Kanaya knew the children of Myrkentown very well. She baked biscuits for children because she almost preferred them to adults; because unlike their elders, they had their whole lives ahead of them.

In May of the year 206, Bea was found murdered in the back room of her small bakery, her eyes gouged from their sockets. The word 'BELIEF?' was seen carved into a wall near her corpse.
