Baie Oblic`ej
Information

The Baie is an enigmatic creature, whose origins are known to very few.

He has been described as a "man-beast" and incorrectly identified with the werefolk. That said, he is a shapeshifter of sorts; that much is known.

The trademark of his murders is the removal of his victims' eyes. It is this action that inspired the cult, The Order of the All, in the formation of their faith.

History in Myrken Wood

The Baie arrived in Myrken Wood with devastating repercussions. It started with rumors of cattle mutilation. They were followed by the arrival of a young girl named Loviti Obe't', who claimed The Baie had killed her family and others in the lands to the south of Myrken Wood. It was Loviti's goal to hunt down The Baie and exact vengeance upon it. Altias Bromn and Alexander Kanashia joined her in investigating the creature and eventually grew to wish its demise as well.

Shortly after the arrival of Loviti, cattle mutilations started to occur around Myrken Wood. The death of cattle was followed by murders of individuals. Among the first to be killed were Vin and Cass Tolmer, a quiet, land-owning couple. Both were slaughtered, Vin by axe, and Cass by blood loss due to the removal of her eyes.

It was after this horrendous murder that Joseph O'Cynen joined the hunt of The Baie. He warned all who would listen to be on the lookout for the man-beast.

Loviti Obe't', herself, was the next to die from The Baie's attacks. However, this was not like the other killings, there was something different about Loviti. The only witness was Galacia Tarin-Talus, an old...acquaintance...of The Baie's.

The Baie next made his presence during the devastating Massacre at Townsedge, where many Myrkenfolk were slain. Six months later, Nathaniel Darve was killed by The Baie...or at least, it's thought that he was, due to the removal of his eyes.

Since that time, The Baie has all but disappeared; at least, that is to say, he is not killing so publically. It is left to speculation, whether his vile acts against the people of Myrken Wood are complete. However, talk of the creature's evil deeds certainly is not.

The Massacre at Townsedge

{{#invoke:main|main}}

The summer of 203 AR, it seemed that more fear had descended on Myrken Wood than ever before. Between the attacks of The Baie, the defilement of the Myrken Graveyard, the red sky, and countless other abnormalities that plagued Myrken Wood, the citizens of Myrken were frightened. They felt that Governor Gad Phuri and the Judiciary Council were doing nothing to protect them from these horrors. Their distaste led to the creation of a mob.

The mob marched toward the Governor's Mansion, but was stopped by Thessilane Guard, who created a line of shields to stop the advance. It was in this crush that The Baie appeared.

The creature rose from within the back of the crowd, growing in size until he was nearly three or four times the size of a man. Myrkenfolk have said that he seemed "to consume people with his body." He even used people like weapons, throwing and swinging men, women, and children at his enemies.

It was the gallant heroism of Altias Bromn and Alexander Kanashia that drove the creature back and causing it to flee, leaving death in its wake.

No one knows what the motive was behind the public attack, though many believed that it was due to provocation from the late Joseph O'Cynen, whose name the beast called when it fled.

Shapeshifting

Little is known or understood about The Baie's ability to change forms. It was witnessed that Baie can grow to a very large size and he was once described by a child as a "big kitty," implying that he can take on the form of a large cat of some sort. With the exception of Galacia Tarin-Talus, no one alive has seen the Baie in any other form--at least, not when they knew it was he.

Known Victims

The Baie has had countless victims over the years. Some of these include:

Rumors about The Baie

  • When The Baie is in human form, he is not a normal looking human, but rather abnormally large--well above seven feet.
  • He is a were-cat of some sort.

The thread "Broken Dagger Cards" on the BD Forums involved creating Magic: The Gathering cards inspired by characters. This is the card inspired by Baie.
