Information

Doctor David D'Rael is a man known for his solid judgements, his disdain for violence, his true neutrality in everything from personal to political matters, but most of all, he is know for being the good doctor. In David's time in Myrken Wood, he has developed a certain renown for his skill with a surgeon's knife and knowledge of herbs and potion-brewing.

Doctor D'Rael has worked tirelessly to bring better health to those that have had the misfortune to visit the Rememdium Edificium, sometimes performing what some would call miracles and more often just lending a hand to the will of survival.

But David hasn't done it all alone - along the way, he's had dedicated help from Aerithya Silverwind, Bryce Larose, Janessa, Raziqa, and Arcadia Silverwind (coincidentally sharing the same last name as Aerithya) - even, at one point, employing Jirai for a short time, along with many others who came in times of need.

History

Born April 6, 171 AR.

In Myrken Wood

Years ago, a younger Doctor David D'Rael had found his way to Myrken Wood purely by chance. He wanted to get away from Bolgardia, though he knew he would always return - in fact, there was to be a conference of others in his profession there once every year that David would attend...every year. In the woodland territory, the Doctor saw a great beauty - and terrible perril. It wasn't long before he became familiar with some of the legendary fights that happened in the Broken Dagger, and being professionally opposed to those fights, David felt he needed to do something about it.

So he bought the land across the road from the Dagger - positioned with two advantages: so close to the violent tavern, and one of those first buildings travelers would see has they made the long trek north. David was not rich, though through his father's wealth he could have been. He did have a fund, however, which was almost entirely spent taking down the building in that lot and constructing the Rememdium Edificium in its wake. For the next five years, this is where David rested and worked, tending to the sick, injured, and otherwise illed.

Not all was quiet at the Edificium; David was joined by Aerithya early on, who was a great healer in her own right. However, she came with a haunted past - one that didn't leave the Edificium untouched. Many things happened in that hospice - shadowy creatures threatend to pull people into the ground, a suicide bomber demolished much of the building, Aerithya was kidnapped - David even stood up against the Drow Audmathus, though no fight ensued. Fortunately, for the good doctor.

The Doctor even died outside the Edificium, struck down by his vengeful brother. He bled to death, even as others rushed to aid him. His death was brief, however, as he was carried away by a strange individual to an even stranger locale. Ymir had followed, witnessing the ressurrection ritual which had lasted hours into the night. The period afterwards - with new life - was a period of darkness and dangerous confusion for David D'Rael. He had almost even killed during that time.

But that too, passed, and from it, a new man. One much more appreciative and learned from his past.

Aerithya's kidnapping, too, had been an interesting situation. David was torn between his noncombative status after having taken up his profession and the simple need to rescue the Elven Healer from hostile territory. In the end, David took a weighted middle ground, brewing up a sleep agent that the Drow would have been proud of, and moving on the Tivalti Estate with Dhugal and Jason Heldenbrand to rescue her. They were successful, and David, too, at only once entering combat against a magical, elemental construct guarding the Elf.

In time, the Edificium was rebuilt with the help of Myrken Wood's residents, and Aerithya parted ways and David found new help, briefly in Arcadia, and longer in Bryce, Janessa, and Raziqa. When urgency had called David home to Bolgardia, the Edificium was left and charged in the hands of those three.

Doctor D'Rael could only hope the urgency would be brief.
