(A.R. 145 --- 202)

Joseph O'Cynen was a wealthy farmer and respected go-to man for Myrken Wood's farmers and general populace alike. He served on the Myrken Wood Judiciary until his dying day as the Councilor for Agriculture, often as a voice of reason and logic amidst all the beauracracy. He spoke out against the threat of The Baie, telling people that they should not live huddled up in fear, but prepare to defend themselves and cast out the The Baie - and any other evils that plagued Myrken Wood.

Joseph inherited most of his land and good sense from his father, Theodore O'Cynen, a Myrken native who passed long ago. Joseph, himself, was born in Myrken Wood, though he left for a few years in his earlier years to persue opportunities elsewhere. He eventually returned to Myrken Wood with his wife, and together they had three children: Stephen, Jacob, and Ariel. His wife passed away when the two boys were just beginning their teen years, when Ariel was a toddler. Stephen and Jacob left the farm and Myrken Wood when they came of age for other persuits, leaving Ariel to follow in her father's footsteps.

Joseph died during the unnatural darkness that plagued Myrken Wood under suspicious circumstances; no evidence or suspects were ever found, leaving Ariel as the sole heir.
