Originally from the region of Almark in Thessilane, Captain Kerrak al'Nerun was the commander of the Brotherhood of Janeiro and former Councilor of Defence and Civil Security of Myrken Wood.

Since his apperance in Myrken, the former Councilor of Defence and Civil Security has gone through many changes. First appearing in the retinue of Burel Tassnehof, who is the current Duke of Thessilane as the captain of his personal bodyguard, the Companions. He has since portrayed himself as a number of things. Going from a man of the people, to a man reviled by the people. Oddly enough, despite the changes to his demeanor and status, he still sees himself as a champion of the people of Myrken...

History

Born in the year 167, into the House al`Nerun in Almark, Thessilane As second son, his lot, and wish, was to enter into service to the royal seat in Meadowford. Whilst his older brother Wheylan was chosen to inherit and was thusly entered into the proper schools for such service, the young Kerrak was instead trained in the arts of warcraft. Showing an adeptness that quickly outstripped the capabilities of his tutors in Almark he was soon sent to train under the watchful eyes of the Ducal War College, in Meadowford. And train he did, occasionally returning home to dabble in love and politics until he was deemed old enough to add his strength to the Loyalist forces during the Schism, a period of civil strife within the Duchy.

During this time Kerrak was to, once again, prove himself time and again by throwing himself into the bloodiest and hardest fought knots of trouble he cound find. And all of this for the simple glory of the Ducal house, and the throne held by the Tassnehof line. For long had the two familes, al`Nerun and Tassnehof been allied. Due to his actions, he quickly rose through the depleted officer corps of the country, many having been killed during the first movements of the civil war, and others having defected. From a newly minted Sword-Lieutenant of Foot, to eventual command, as a Lance-Captain over his own regiment of horse, and eventually into the ranks of the elite Brotherhood of Janeiro where his skills once again saw him rising from the lowly rank of Sword-Brother, to Lieutenant of Horse. The young noble's star was ascending, and it was not long after this that that rising star was truly noticed by the high command in Meadowford.

For it was also not long before his Brotherhood placement that Burel Tassnehof, the truly named Duke of Thessilane was found in the nearby province of Myrken and returned to his birthright. With his return came a restructuring of the Loyalist army and a concentrated effort to end the conflict. It was during this time that Kerrak was removed from his position within the Brotherhood and once more returned to the regular army. Only this time he was appointed as the commander of the Army of the Meadowlands, and then tasked with finally bringing to heel the rebels in the towns of Orvere, the County of Calael and the Barony of Althain. As seemed to be the usual for this upstart commander, he achieved these tasks quite well, earning himself the appellation of 'Walltaker' for the ease in which he tore asunder the walls of Fortress Althain and the first time he had to take the city of Orvere. Many in the inner circles of the Duchy believe it to be a combination of Duke Burel's changes to the military forces, and appointing original thinking (and hot headed) men to Generalship with the swift end of the Schism

Thanks to his efforts with the Army of the Meadowlands, and the ending of the Schism itself, Kerrak was once more thrust into a spotlight. For once again the Duke of Thessilane felt it needed to reform the armies under his command. Once this task was done, the Duke offered Kerrak a place as the Captain of his personal guard, the Companions. It was a post he almost declined, until he realised that this would be the ultimate position in his life-long want to serve the country he had been born too. From here he would take up the mantle of Captain, and serve as Burel's right arm, and the hand of his more sinister justice. It was a position he served in for the remainder of his time in Thessilane, up until he travelled with the Duke and his entourage for the first visit back to Myrken Wood in over a decade. Here, again, he saw a place for change in his life. A change that would eventually lead to the resignation of his position and move of his person to the aforementioned province. To take up the mantle of Councilor and try to protect the people.

Current

A little over two years ago, Kerrak al`Nerun entered into the political scene of Myrken Wood, getting himself appointed to the seat of Councilor of Defence and Civil Security. His many acts were to preserve the status of the Order of Straka and to make sure they recieved the funding they deserved, and to maintaining the insane wall project first brought to the fore by Councilor Giscard. In these tasks, he sought to attain for the people of Myrken a sense of safety and contentment they may not have felt in years. In this time, as well, he would start to develop powers which would start his feet upon yet another past. Yet this one would be darker and tainted by shadow more than any other he had ever trod upon. For he had discovered his innate talent to command the Power, and the very forces of nature itself. And with them, he decided, he would preserve the integrity of his new home, and keep the people safe with his Light given Fire.

Now more than a year after having learned of this gift of fire, and the Power which fueled it (and him), time has seen a shift in the mind of Kerrak al`Nerun. For the means, which had always been in a moral grey zone, are truly justified. And if you walk in shadow, and are a traitor to the provine of Myrken Wood then perhaps you should beware of the Firey Cardinal, who lurks in the shadows and bides his time. Waiting for the proper moment to start his Cleansing, where he will Purge by Fire all the unclean and unjust in Myrken, and finally give the populace safety from thievery and the inhumane...
