In a world where evil Things always appear when you least want them to, Trilby found a home. The creature, for she was certainly no normal woman, had a knack for ill-timed and unwanted arrivals. The Broken Dagger twice felt the weight of her dragon-self crouched on its roof, and the porch and internal workings often witnessed her violent games.

Description

Humanoid Appearance

Trilby was always quite easy to find her if you knew for what you were looking; the woman had a distinct appearance, being slender to the point of painful, as redheaded as a matchstick, and covered in a variety of tattoos on her back, hips, face, and legs. Of these, the one she took the most pride in was a slashed star, filled in black, between her shoulder blades. The others were scattered over her skin in haphazard fashion, frequently altered when new scars formed.

Two pairs of matching scars stretched amid her tattoos from the top of her shoulders to just below the shoulder blades, and from her waist to very nearly equal with her tailbone on either side of her spine. Another, far more wicked-looking scar drew a line from her chin to her collarbone on the right side.

Trilby’s eyes were both blue at some point in time, though the left (tattooed with dripping lines down her cheek) was ruined. The once brilliant blue iris was rendered a mishmash of white and blue, the pupil a lopsided hole that opened to useless, damaged nerves. This injury occured at the hands of Elil.

Despite her reckless appearance, Trilby's speaking voice suited her name. Musical in tone, and carefully controlled, she enjoyed sing-song banter with her would-be victims.

Shifted Appearance

As a dragon, Trilby was far more impressive than as a woman, and far more frightening. Slender, with jutting ribs and hips, she sported two pairs of wings that lined up with the scars on her back. The first pair sat high on her back near her shoulder blades and were considerably smaller than the lower pair. The smaller pair were used for steering instead of actual lift. Unlike a traditional dragon, drake or wyrm, Trilby's wings were feathered and structurally very similar to a bird's. The feathers themselves were copper-red along the joints and a dark gold along the trailing edges. The feathers themselves had a bright, hard sheen. No scales or feathers adorned her pale gold-cream body, but the leathery flesh had an equally bright shine to it.

Trilby’s ears when shifted had several spiralled horns protruding from the edges, so that they could stretch and collapse against the wind when in flight. The right side had one of its spirals broken off at the tip.

Behind her ears, along her jaw, and running from her forehead to her tail, was a stiff mane of coarse, thick red hair. It acted as a very crude sort of armor, but did little to keep Mikhail from removing the end of her tail.

Background

Origins

Little was known of the woman's true origins, but Trilby once claimed to be a self-liberated slave. The girl she pursued upon her initial arrival in the region, she claimed to be the daughter of her former owner. Whether either claim was true is still unknown.

The Broken Dagger

Trilby arrived in Myrken Wood claming that she was looking for a small child with dark curls on a rather strange little pony, with a nastily sharpened tongue. Ariane Carnath-Emory and a grouping of cavalrymen managed to drive the dragon away when she shifted, wounding her in the process, and saving the child. After that event, the woman apparently held a grudge and pursued Ariane on multiple occasions. In one such meeting, Ariane was aided by Kerrak al'Nerun, another by Eriks DeMord Sleipner and finally another by Mikhail and Elil.

In the altercation involving Mikhail and Elil, Trilby destroyed the stairs and a good portion of the tavern's porch with her transformation. She suffered several injuries, however, including the destruction of her left eye by Elil. A portion of her tail was cut off by Mikhail. It eventually partially regenerated, but forever lacked the tuft of fur at its tip common to her particular breed.

In later encounters, Trilby faced Ariane alone and was the victor, inflicting several broken bones in exchange for a damaged wing and bleeding tongue. After this small battle, Trilby took to picking on the former student of Ariane's, Agnieszka Kaczmarek, hoping to antagonise the pair into further confrontations. She attacked the girl after an argument with Braddock and Bryce Larose. She stole from the girl blood, beads and a blade, and left her wandering Myrken with bruises, broken bones, and a battered ego.

For some time, Trilby was content to wander the woods and town in stolen clothes, flaunting Agnieszka's father's prayer beads and her dulled, dirty blade. Her goal was to face down Ariane, once and for all but her plans seem to have been forever thwarted by others.

It seems that the sword belonging to her past victim of torture came to an untimely demise. Trilby was seen with it before Agnieszka reclaimed the broken tip, and only the broken tip. The rest of the weapon remains lost, perhaps in Trilby’s grasp still.

The interactions with Ariane eventually took an unusual turn; Trilby was spotted drinking with her usual enemy and conversing life, death and other topics that most would not consider the demented woman capable of grasping. She at one point sported a lovely cut across her left palm from Agnieszka Kaczmarek's sword after a small disagreement within the tavern commons. It was disrupted by Elil and no serious injuries were sustained by any parties involved.

The Present

Trilby vanished into the wilds of Myrken Wood in 206 AR, and has not been seen since.
