Lamai Carver
Information

Once upon a time, there lived a pretty little girl with charming freckles and strawberry-blonde hair, and a disposition formed from the essence of puppies and sunshine.

Then she met a paladin.

Far History

Once upon a time (for that's how all good stories start), there was an island. The island itself was of no consequence, but the people who inhabited the island were quite important. Upon the island grew a malignant race of attempted perfection known as Cephians. Cephians were, as a general rule, blond haired, blue-eyed bundles of arrogance. Yet, as all populations without a natural predator (other than themselves), they found themselves wishing to expand and force their militaristic, uniform population upon new territory.

As with every strictly uniform population, there were some that disagreed. Such was the case with one Lesla Argen. The eventual leader of the Cephian Resistance, this woman bore children with a high-ranked official. One, a boy, was typical of the race. Blond haired, blue eyed, obediant to the core. Just like his father.

The other, well.. Lamai always did have issues with authority.

Roleplay History

At the precocious age of nine, Lamai Carver stepped through a shining blue gate for the sole purpose of Seeing What Was On The Other Side. A naturally curious child, little stopped her from doing as she liked. Furthermore, since she was well aware that she was an anomoly anyway, it hardly mattered if she did what she liked. She was trouble simply from hair that was tinted with red and eyes that were the wrong color of blue.

It was through that gate that she met one firemage by the name of Rielle Eklenna.. and The Paladin.

Children remember little of war, and Lamai remembered grand adventures with Rielle and her friends, as well as her father. Of her mother, she has no knowledge of her identity. The fields of paladins that nearly wiped out an Order meant nothing to a child who was not told of such things.

She always had been a curious child, and that curiosity lead her to discover the out-of-the-way tavern in which Rielle spent a great deal of time. Late one night, when she was supposed to be sleeping, an independant nine year old stumbled across a person of great magic -- or technology. She never discovered which. No matter which it was, the nine year old that had snuck out of the house to discover a tavern came back an eighteen year old -- and very confused.

The War ended. Yet, before it could finish with the Cephians driven back, a very confused eighteen year old was introduced -- forcefully -- to the taste of blood.. and first love. It was the start of a trend, for he disappeared shortly after. Later rumors placed him dead.

Some say curses are all in the head. Prophecies have a tendency of fullfilling themselves. Such was the case for a young Lamai Carver. Due to the nature of her vampiric infection, she managed to find her soul cured -- though not untainted. With the return of her being with the help of one winged boy named Janus (famed for fighting Mephisto!), a very important vow was made. A follower of the Faith, just as The Paladin, vows were very important things. In an environment such as The Silver Blade, a vow of non-violence was nigh impossible to keep.

For two years, she managed. Until she fell in love.

With swift vengence, the curse manifested itself again. David, pronounced dead. In her grief, a small healer found comfort in a mirrored twin. And oh, the vengence when rumors revealed themselves to be untrue. In the end, both twins lay dead, and she found herself alone with budding life building within her.

As frail a figure as she was, little Lamai Carver found herself on forced bed-rest for six out of nine months. In the end, the only life that was saved was that of her daughter.

Good was a difficult thing to come by in The Silver Blade. Little by little, those forces had been pushed away until only a handful still stood. Eventually, only one still stood. Golden blood and white wings made her a perfect target; a big heart made her an easy one. Innocents, it had been proclaimed, would continue to die if she did not give in.

Resistances were made, as always. Attempts to kill were made, but this little angel was not a fighter. She was a healer, and her fighters had abandoned her. Such was the first Fall. Her soul for the lives of others; her fall for the lives of innocents.

Until she was gently reminded by a Brother that her soul was not hers to *give*.

That her God was ever-forgiving.

That her wings would forever remain a stained white. Forgiven, but not forgotten.

Broken Dagger History

It wasn't until the Spires broke through the ground that Lamai Carver became a true force in Myrken. Unbeknownst to many, a personal challenge had been called by Mephisto in the form of the slaughter of many of the Lady's followers. A goddess of belief, her servants weakened as faith was weakened. Lamai, having turned to a deity a little more flexible, found herself in a subtle fight for her very existance.

Every hour that gave Mephisto strength took it from one used to fighting all of her battles on her own. Necessity (and a broken vow) had taught her how to hold her own against most combatants. However, one such as Mephisto required outside assistance.

It meant asking for help.

Lamai Carver had turned very jaded.

In silence, she suffered. At the end of her patience, she threatened one Quincy Randall. In turn, that began the animosity between herself and the sister of Quincy--Ariane.

In the midst of all of this, Lamai made the fatal mistake a third time. She fell in love.

As the Spires fell, Lamai Carver's relief at surviving birthed a need to see the growing child that she had tucked away in the desert castle of an adopted family. With only the barest of words, she disappeared.

Her return was a brief thing, discovering a barb that would drive the animosity between herself and Ariane even deeper. However, a new threat had appeared to threaten the innocents of Myrken. Struggling through a broken heart, Lamai infiltrated a cult and paid the ultimate Sacrifice. Mentally linked with Kerrak al'Nerun, a little angel lead a band of heros into the depths of her own Hell. The cult was thwarted..

.. but not before Lamai Carver had given her sight for the people of Myrken.

Currently

A ghost of white lace and blindness has been haunting the Broken Dagger for a couple of months. On the edge of the Silver Lake, a new vow was offered to one that had pulled her out of the depths of Hell. If this newfound power drove him to insanity, his death would come at her hands. Having no other ties than that, a visit home caused her to almost miss the appearance of insanity.

But how does one define insane?

After the Meetinghouse explosion, Lamai Carver was taken to the Hospital by the Brothers of Janeiro. Witnessing the death of so many at once by the hand of one she had vowed to kill upon proof of insanity left her unconcious for days.

On the very day that she had returned to conciousness, a stubborn healer stepped out of the Hospital and confronted madness. However, instead of death, there was a kiss.. and stillness for two hours. Through the window of the Hospital, one of the healers swore he saw the little thing disappearing into a dark portal created by Kerrak Al'Nerun not long after she had started to confront him.

Those who have seen her since will testify that white lace has turned to black. Furthermore, golden blood -- metallic as it is -- has been known to stain the floorboards and ground in and around the tavern that she has been haunting as it drips from wings that are ever bleeding and broken.

Yet, one must wonder. What will happen now that love has blossomed a fourth time?
