Laws

The Myrken Wood Judiciary Council currently functions in conjunction with the Myrkentown Constabulary to prosecute any citizen of Myrken Wood for the commission of any of the following reprehensible acts, including but not limited to:

  • Murder
  • Injurious assault
  • Kidnapping
  • Rape
  • Theft
  • Witchcraft or mentalism (when confirmed by the Myrkentown Inquisitory)
  • Destruction of property (ie: arson, vandalism, etc.)
  • Forgery
  • Impersonation of a government or military official
  • Extortion and blackmail
  • Evasion of arrest

Punishments

It is the responsibility of the Governor and his Council to determine the punishment for those who do not abide with governing laws. Penalties are assigned at the whim of the Council and may include the following:

  • A fair fine or restitution determined by an accredited intermediary
  • Seizure of property or collateral, especially in cases when fines cannot be paid
  • Forced labour
  • Public flogging

In the absence of a place to incarcerate more felonious criminals, other methods of punishment are allowed for use if approved by the Council, including use of stocks, the removal of limbs when deemed appropriate, exile, and in extreme cases, public execution by hanging. Since the dissolution of the Order of Straka, however, these methods have been not been commonly practiced.
