Myrken Wood, for the most part, has seen a reprieve from oppressive cold. Despite the rumors abounding of rabid wolves stalking through the woods, spirits and morale in Myrkentown are beginning to flourish: spring has finally come, allowing warmth, sunlight, and renewing rains to beat away a dreary winter and all its natural demons.

  • Over the past month, the seamstress Gloria Wynsee has been recovering from having her left hand gnawed off by - what some rumors hold - was a wolf-like being capable of standing upright, at least enough to tower over humans. This attack is the the second attributed to wolves. The first happened several weeks before, when Cherny Woods was scarred across his upper arms and wrists by another beast's jaws. Noura the Whelp, too, experienced wounds in both circumstances, the first time in defending Cherny and the second in attempting to pull the wolf-creature away from Gloria.
  • Likely overheard by bartenders at the Broken Dagger has been conversation between Gloria, Catch, Cherny, and Noura suggesting that the seamstress may have recently discovered that she is pregnant. The circumstances regarding how she came to be, or even a guarantee that she is with child, cannot be confirmed through this public knowledge.
  • The Myrken Wood Inquisitory has been struggling as of late, citing a reduction of available (or healthy) Inquisitors. While this extension of the government remains functional by proxy, the Inquisitory has been nominally unrepresented or has not been readily able to answer requests for the usual investigations.
  • Agnieszka Kaczmarek has been having a hard time transitioning back into her old posting as Chairwoman of the Myrken Wood Defense Committee after the terror of The Red-and-Gold Summer. While the work is getting done, the trust of the populace in that work has gone down, despite Glenn Burnie's assurances that she acted as a hero. She has gone through two significant losses that have made her extremely angry: that of Rhaena Olwak, who was her best friend, and her husband, Aleksei River, who reportedly died saving people in an attack by an as-yet-unknown force in Orvere, Thessilane.
She's begun to spend time at a small compound on a hill much outside of town that she is building with the help of her brother Dominik and some of the other Kaczmareks, on land she purchased earlier in the year; it's beginning to look like a number of structures might end up being built there, including a barn and a tower of some sort.
The night she heard of Aleksei's loss, she passed out drunk at the Broken Dagger. Two iterations of what happened there are hovering around town: One, that Catch beat her up with no provocation. Badly. With a sword. Secondly, that Agnieszka brandished her weapon first at Catch, who acted to subdue and disarm the Councilwoman.
She spent some time in the hospital and her wounds seem to be healing nicely, although the whole experience has really made her quite irate.
