Plots 06 05
June, 2005
- During conflict with the monstrous Archimedes, combatants succeed in severing several of the beast's fingers. They are delivered by Private Janis Williams, along with her report on the skirmish, to Captain Daniels of the Order of Straka. An investigation follows.
- The Order meantime continues its patrols of the Silver Lake area, moving in groups of three and setting torches at regular intervals to enhance visibility.
- Captain Almais Lansing pens an announcement requesting volunteers to work aboard the Legacy, as its distribution of water to Myrken fields continues.
- The empath Lamai Carver is abducted by Thadius Dhrin and several members of the Order of the All -- of whom ominous rumours have begun to spread through Myrkentown.
- Milla Seyrevell, representative of the Grey Guard, questions Barrister Helstone on the legality of that mercenary company's activities within Myrkentown.
- As the heatwave worsens, the Tempestian General Council offer their aid to Myrken Wood, in the form of dry goods for immediate consumption, and manpower to bolster Myrken's troops. They are soon employed by Governor Bromn himself, and form an encampment just outside of Myrkentown.
- Several bodies are received at the Remedium Edificium, each drained of blood and featuring two small prick-like wounds at the throat. Doctor D'Rael disposes of them in a manner that will prevent them from rising again as vampires.
- The beast Archimedes makes a fresh attempt upon Governor Bromn's life -- this time within the Broken Dagger. The next evening, the Governor is visited in his dreams by an unnamed figure, who questions his actions during that attack -- and makes an ominous offer. Several weeks later, a similar offer is made to the dreaming (and grievously wounded) Thadius Dhrin.
- The scarred reaver Babajide requests supplies of an unusual poison, pavula, from those working at the Rememdium.
- Councilor Aloisius Treadwell collapses in the Broken Dagger, succumbed to a heart attack. Despite making a good recovery, the rumours of his death spread by Jirai persist for some weeks.
- An army of volunteer farmers, led by Ezekiel and Sarah Jones, have almost completed work on the extension to the Rememdium Edificium. It now features a sizable basement below-ground.
- In preparation for the foretold plague of insects, Lieutenant Kilborn of the Order of Straka requests delivery of cedar and holly sprigs from neighbouring Ruann, along with those reptiles and birds known to feed upon flying bugs.
- Just days from the month's end, the unnatural heatwave breaks with an explosive torrent of rainfall. Barrels are filled, farmers salvage what they can of their crops, and the Myrken Militia disbands temporarily. Conversely, the Order of Straka increases the regularity of its patrols.
- Posters begin to surface in various taverns, bakeries and other places where Myrkenfolk regularly gather. Each reads as follows:
Swords End Everything, Knowledge Is No Guard. People Of Idle States Own Nothing. To Rule All Defeat Every Right. Cry Over No Thief And Control Truth. Beer Ages Bellowing Aunts Jeering In Death's Eyes. Bottles Roll Over Knitted Eel Nets. Dragons Are Gods Greet Every Rule.
