Plots 02 05
February, 2005
- Several days after his murder, the funeral of Joseph O'Cynen is held.
- Rumours of the Marquis Al-D'arcu's vanishment continue to spread, finally taking firm grip upon Myrken Wood's populace.
- Subsequent to the wide spread of these rumours, Captain Kerrak al'Nerun first proposes assuming the Marquis' seat upon the Judiciary Council.
- Within days of Captain Kerrak's proposal, Suede Roschen makes a claim upon the Council seat of the deceased O'Cynen.
- The Fivefold Blight has taken a great toll of Myrken Wood -- in terms of both masonry and manpower. Councilor Guillaume writes to Tempestria, in hopes of purchasing the services of the Gray Lancers to finish completion upon The Wall -- and to serve as its guards.
- Work upon The Wall eventually continues, with lumber from Myrken's own woods, and stone purchased from neighbouring Derry. It eventually tops six feet in height, patrolled by companies composed of members of the Order of Straka, residents of Guillaume's Lothbury Estate, and several of Kerrak al'Nerun's own men. The co-operation between these factions is reluctant.
- The lizard-like Vertex continue their observations of those who move through Myrken's woods. Their habit of moving with ghostly stealth, and the odd talismans they hang upon its bricks, soon lead to some rumours that The Wall is cursed.
- To counter this fear, Captain Kerrak delivers a speech to the men and women finishing its construction, and orders that torches be lit along its perimeter, to drive back the shadows amongst which the Vertex had hid. The mysterious Reverend Craymont, a holy man who has earned a significant following, speaks publically in support of both Kerrak and The Wall.
- It becomes public knowledge that Captain Kerrak has renounced his Thessilane allegiance; his company adopts the title 'Sons of Myrken'.
- Due to the lingering malaise which plagues Captain Thomas Daniels, acting leadership of the Order of Straka is passed to Lieutenant Joshua Kilborn.
- A drunken brawl erupts at the Broken Dagger, involving members of the Myrken Militia and several citizens of Lothbury Estate, amongst others. The 'Dagger's longtime bartender Pritchard is key in turning back the would-be thugs, threatening their lives with his stout crossbow -- but succumbs to a heart attack several minutes after the brawl has come to its end. Within a day, Brother Cythwyllthfyr claims that 'Blessed Pritchard' has been Sainted, the true cause of his death being the evil influence of the demon Kamageroff; within a week, the sale of related relics has spread like wildfire across Myrkentown.
- Agnieszka Kaczmarek's public claims that the demon Kamageroff was not responsible for Pritchard's death -- and, indeed, doesn't go by that name at all -- are roundly ignored.
